Task 0210 Nicholas' Editorial Image

This is an example of Task 0210 Editorial Image.

The first image is the edited version.

The focus of this image is centered around me with an unusual look on my face. Looking more carefully reveals that there is a fist near my face and another holding my shoulder. Most people would be quick to assume what is happening in here. However, the "take away" from this image could be that things are not always what they appear to be. As with some advertisements, the mood that could be derived from this type of image could range from shock to concern.

As in the previous image, the look on my face is still a focal point. However, because the image is not cropped and the view can see the entire context of the picture, the message has drastically changed. The threatening fist is actually a playful one given to me by my mentor. The smile on on his face does not indicate any traces of malice. The mood itself is now more light-hearted and playful and the underlying purpose is to show the bond between mentor and former student.

Task 018 Nicholas' Illustrated Poster

This is one of my favorite exerpts from Romeo and Juliet. It taught me that if you really look closely at the words, you can begin to see that it is not really hard to understand. As a matter of fact, the same thing that happened between these two still happens everyday. I try to convey this message to my students all the time. Just because it's different, it doesn't mean you can't understand it.
